HALLOWEEN GIVEAWAY AND CHRISTMAS GROTTO 2020

As the Covid-19 pandemic was sweeping the nation for most of 2020, many social gatherings had become a memory of the past. This has had an undoubtable effect on our children and their daily interactions, as well as special occasions. With ever-growing restrictions on public celebrations, Halloween and Christmas were notably different from the previous years. Trick or treating, Santa’s grottos and children’s parties were not something that most children were able to experience in 2020. However, The Focus Point Community Group on Vale Road, created by the Peaceful Trust, could not stand by, while these two celebrations were all but cancelled for their local community. The Focus Point Teamed up with Solar Air Sequin Walls to create two amazing events for the local children of Mansfield Woodhouse. The Halloween Giveaway and Santa’s Grotto saw the community centre transformed in seasonal wonders. With colourful balloons and sequin panels, the centre became a spooky Halloween Den, and an enchanted Christmas grotto just a few months later. In the Halloween Giveaway, children were given prepacked sweets and chocolates to make up for missing out on trick or treating fun. For Christmas ,while visiting Santa’s Grotto, children were able to meet Santa and some of his helpers, while keeping a safe 2 meter distance and were given celebration boxes as part of the festive greeting. For the children of the local community these were wonderful gestures of good will, and brought another joyful experience during an otherwise testing time.
